Blizzard Of Awesome 2005 Tour Report
by Jonathan Pfeffer

I suppose this is where the introductions are made. My name is Jon and I play guitar, maneuver the sampler, and operate as sort of the ringleader of this production. Spencer plays bass, Stephan plays guitar and the maraca, Curt plays drums, and Sam plays the keys, the melodica, and umbrella. Together we form ... Capillary Action!

The band itself is based out of Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH where we all, with the exception of Curt, go to school. But each individual member calls either Philadelphia (Curt and I), New York (Stephan), or Portland (Spencer and Sam) home.

I've heard a lot of crazy comparisons for the music in question (one reviewer claimed that one song sounded like Lil' Jon And The Eastside Boyz mixed with Judas Priest), but I guess if I had to relay some kind of a description, I'd say we sound like a composite of the tense, moody work of Constellation Records bands like Godspeed You Black Emperor (albeit much more succinct) crossed with Mr. Bungle's ADD-afflicted multi-genre excursions. Oh, and we're instrumental…for the time being.

There's one record under the Capillary Action name, which I produced and wrote by my lonesome, and was released on the Pangaea Recordings label, which I also happen to run. Unfortunately, Pangaea is sort of falling by the wayside as I don't have money to sink into any new releases. So, I guess you could say we're in the market for a label…or rather a high-powered distribution deal. Anyway, the band is slowly moving away from being a solo project and toward something resembling a full-functioning, [mostly] democratic organization. We're planning on touring extensively in the coming years.

The following documents the 5-day mini-tour we undertook in the first week of February '05.

PART ONE:
Jan. 30th-Feb. 1st
Feb. 2nd
Feb. 3rd

PART TWO:
Feb. 4th
Feb. 5th
Feb. 6th
