On September 21th 2002 we hosted a contest for the Black Sea self-titled debut
EP. The original text of the contest entry page follows:
"You want a copy of the new Black Sea EP don't
you? Yeah, we know you do. Thinking about that combination of Fugazi-esque
rhythms and Frodian futurist-nihilism is just making your mouth water. They're
the best damn band named after a body of water you've ever heard. The EP is
due out October 21st on the esteemed Lovitt
Records and features Joe Lally (Fugazi - bass), Jason Hamacher (Frodus
- drums) and Shelby Cinca (Frodus - guitar, vocals). But because we here at
Bornbackwards love you so much, we're offering a chance to win this hunk of
audio gold absolutely free. In keeping with the Black Sea's lyrical themes
of technological alienation we are sponsoring a coloring contest. That's right,
download the picture of Shelby below, print it out, color it (or photoshop
it) and send it back to us, it's as easy as that. The winners will be chosen
by the good people at Lovitt and will be featured here on Bornbackwards."
